Josh Kaye is a London based composer whose work centers around writing for the voice and for the stage. In 2022 he completed a master’s in composition at Trinity Laban, under Edward Jessen, Deirdre Gribbin, Errollyn Wallen and Laura Bowler. During his time at Trinity he was awarded the silver medal and worked with the Hermes Experiment, The Smith Quartet, the Riot Ensemble and the Trinity Symphony Orchestra. For his final project he composed the opera Outlier, which was developed following interviews with junior doctors and was featured in Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival 2023.

In addition to this, he attended the Dartington Advanced Composition course under Nico Muhly (2021).

Josh has a interest in developing work collaboratively with singers and musicians and is committed to breaking down hierarchal structures in the rehearsal room to create unique and immersive performances.

Recent projects include: Psappha ‘Composing For…’ scheme, working with the percussionist Delia Stevens; Making Music: Adopt a Music Creator with Orchestra of the City; co-creator and composer for You Can’t Kill the Spirit, a work-in-progress for Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival 2024, exploring the Greenham Common protest moment, which was recognised in The Guardian as ‘poignant and powerful reminder of less supine times.
